CPR Instructor Course

City CPR runs a full course for the Heart and Stroke Foundation Instructor Training.

This course is conducted as per the requirements of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. The fee includes all taxes, textbook, and other materials.

Prerequisite: completed "C"-CPR within 3 months prior; candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

After completion of the course, the successful candidate must then be monitored by a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario (HSFO) Instructor-Trainer before receiving full Instructor status.

Note: Please register Early. Early registration allows us enough time to ship to you the instructor manual and pre-course materials which MUST be reviewed before the course. Note Registration deadline is one week prior to the start of the class.

Any refund for tuition for this course is subject to a $50 administrative fee. Course materials can only be returned if unopened and in their original packaging. Opened materials cannot be returned; their cost will be deducted from any possible refund.

CPR Instructor Course (16 hours)

Note: The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario issued new course materials for Instructor Training courses in 2007.


Depending on the time of year, certain courses are held only at specific locations - please check the approriate page of the website for the location of the course you need, then check our locations page. If the course location is e.g. MNJCC (Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre at Bloor/Spadina), then it means that the course will be held ONLY at that location on the date specified.


HSFO Instructor Guidelines Update (4 hours)

Note: Please make your annual HSFO renewal payment directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

All participants must be current HSFO Instructors and must be eligible to attend a Three Year Renewal course - if you are unsure of your status, please contact the HSFO for verification. You must bring to the course your copies of the current HSFO Instructor manuals and a copy of the Instructor Resource for Rescucitation Programs in Canada.

Please note the following points:

  • Students must be available for the entire scheduled class times.
  • All returned cheques are subject to a $40.00 fee.
  • Any refund of an Instructor course fee is subject to a $50.00 administrative fee.
  • In order to receive a full refund (minus the $50 fee) on any Instructor program, all course materials must be returned to City CPR Centre at the student's expense in the original condition and packaging. Any opened materials cannot be returned and their value will be deducted from any potential refund.
  • Since the course does involve sharing of equipment, it is best to reschedule into another course if you are feelng unwell.
  • The student acknowledges that the course involves physical effort and agrees to inform the instructor of any injury or condition which could be aggravated by their participation in the course and that the City CPR Centre, its employees, directors, officers and agents will not be responsible or liable for any claim, demand, action, present or future damages, or any other losses or liabilites of any description whatsoever which may arise from or in any way be attributed to any illness or injuries which are sustained by me or aggravated while particiating in any course or activity.
